Editor - Peter Molyneaux. Wraps. Conditon is Good. Slight cock to a minor sunfaded spine. Top and botton of spine are bumped. Cover is bright. Earliest known published work by Thompson, predating by a near decade, all work under the Federal Writer's Project and the known published articles for the mystery and crime rags. Interesting to read Thompson before the marked influence of mentor William Cunningham, director of the Oklahoma Federal Writer's Project. Thompson would take over the position after Cunningham only to be replaced by Angie Debo. With help from William Cunningham and Woody Guthrie, Thomspon's first novel Now and on Earth would be published by Modern Publishing in 1942, lauching his career as a writer. This is the earliest known representation of a young, pure and raw Jim Thompson.

Vol. 1, A - J, 740 pp, Vol. 2 K - Z, 741 - 1440 pp. both volumes printed in 1908, Supplement printed in 1910 (731 pp). Listed in the 1st 2 vols. in overall one alphabetical order are Choctaw and Chickasaw by blood, Freedman ( A's and B's only ), Newborn and Citizens by intermarriage. Shown are allottee's name, roll on which name appears, roll number, legal description of the land[s], number of acres, homestead status, deed signature dates by chiefs , date approved by Sec. of Int. and date & time of day filed. The quantum of blood is not shown but can be interpreted by acres allotted. All the Freedmen allotments are homestead even if not shown. The supplement volume adds names for omitted Indians by Blood, additional deeds to persons listed in 1st 2 vols., Minor Indians by Blood , Mississippi Choctaws. No stamps or signatures. Hastain prepared and published 4 Indian Roll lists: 2 Creek, 1 Seminole and this set. Of Hastain's books this set is an outstanding rarity, only 5 sets have been located by us, 3 of which are not in public libraries or museums. There are no plat maps in this set, only text. Dustjacket is overall bright with chips and sunfading on the spine. Tipped in the back of the book is the program for the July 28th, 1960 Freedom Rally in Tulsa. Dr. King was the keynote speaker. Also mentions Rev. McCrutcheon of the Mt. Zion Baptsist Church and James Goodwin of the Oklahoma Eagle as speakers at the rally. First and only piece we've ever seen documenting the Civil Rights Movement in Tulsa and Oklahoma.

In the late 1950s, Ron Padgett, Joe Brainard, Dick Gallup, the members of what John Ashbery called the "Tulsa wing" of the New York School (Ted Berrigan was the fourth horseman of that group), started an magazine in Tulsa, Oklahoma while they were in high school called White Dove Review. It is one of the great magazines of the period, paved the way for the mimeo explosion that followed in New York City and ushered in the Second Generation of the New York School. This document marks the begining influence of what would eventually become the St. Mark's Poetry Project which helped give a voice to Jim Carroll and Patti Smith.
Five volumes, decorated wrappers, bound together as one in black cloth over boards, gilt lettered at the spine. All original wrappers present and bound in, plain creamy yellow endpapers.
Signed on the front free endpaper by a gang of nine founders and contributors: [editor] Ron Padgett, [art editor] Joe Brainard, Paul Blackburn, Fielding Dawson, [assistant editor] Dick Gallup, Peter Orlovsky Dec. 14th 1964, Aram Saroyan, Ted Berrigan [1964]; Allen Ginsberg who has initialed here; also dedicated his poem 'My Sad Self' in vol 1 #3 : "to frank O'Hara - Allen Ginsberg NY 1964" and has added a great sketch of the Empire State building.
